Parry Sound's Fur Trade

Parry Sound's Fur Trade is an exhibition that explores one of Canada`s first industries, the fur trade. A portion of the exhibit was loaned to the Museum by the Archives of Ontario, this traveling exhibition offers individuals a chance to see into Canada`s past.

This exhibit will be on display in the Lion's Room until September 4, 2016.


 

Discover what the fur trade meant to Parry Sound. How did people's lives change? How did the fur trade effect the animal population in the area? Through a variety of stories you can learn about the proverbial first trade, hunting practices and local individuals that were prominent throughout this time.

Curious as to who David Thompson was? Didn't know there were trading posts in the area? Then Parry Sound's Fur Trade is the exhibition for you! Through an assortment of artifacts, a trade company timeline and a trading post diorama the Museum hopes to answer all your questions.
