Join the Museum and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters on Thursday, March 15th, 2018 for a Bat Box Building Workshop!
Why build a bat box? First and foremost, it is a great way to get involved in bat conservation. Our winged friends need all the help they can get so this is a great place to start. By building a bat box you are providing bats with protection against predators while also giving this at-risk species a safe and long-lasting place to roost. Building a bat box can also help remove bats from unwanted locations such as human-inhabited spaces, while providing them with an alternative habitat that they will feel comfortable in. Learn about bats and the different features that draw this species to these homes through the hands-on construction of your own bat box.
The dedicated individuals that make up the OFAH will be leading a hands-on workshop where you will get to build your very own bat box. All materials and tools needed to construct your bat box will be provided to you free of charge. This is an all ages workshop and anyone is free to attend, although seating is limited to 20 participants so call the Museum at 705-746-5365 to reserve your spot. If possible, we ask that parents attend the workshop with their children if they are under the age of 14 years.
