On August 30th, David Bywater will be giving a presentation on the current state of Georgian Bay. His presentation will include findings from the State of the Bay report, such as the impact of invasive species and how they will continue to affect the health of Georgian Bays ecosystem.
David Bywater is an Environmental Scientist with the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve. Based in Parry Sound, David leads conservation programs including State of the Bay an ecosystem health report for eastern Georgian Bay. The State of the Bay reports on 11 ecosystem health indicators, such as water quality, fish communities, wetlands, landscape biodiversity, and climate change. Each of the indicators provide a summary about one aspect of Georgian Bay. They were recommended, analyzed, and reviewed by experts. Together they provide a snapshot of the health of Georgian Bay and provide a baseline for tracking results in future years.
This event correlates with our latest exhibition, Under the Waves: The Waters of Georgian Bay, which explores the environmental factors affecting Georgian Bay, such as invasive species and historic oil spills.
The presentation will be roughly 45 minutes to an hour with time for questions. It will be held in the Lions Room from 7 8:30 pm. Admission is a suggested donation of $5.00.
We hope to see you there!
