Rick Lund Presents the Community Remembrance Project April 10, 2019 @ 7:00PM
Led by Rick Lund, this presentation reviews the Parry Sound High Schools trip to the 100th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge in 2017 and the development of the Parry Sound Community Remembrance Project.
Community Remembrance: Lund has taught history at Parry Sound High School for twenty years, and run three student trips to Europe to commemorate local veterans with another trip planned for 2020. To prepare for the trip, students researched local soldiers whom were killed during both World Wars. Lund became the chief organiser for the Parry Sound Veterans Banners Project and the Community Remembrance Project, which resulted in 106 banners. This banners honour 212 veterans that are put up every fall in downtown Parry Sound.
Fees Fees for the Genealogical Club includes 9 meetings throughout the year, presentations from guest lecturers and digitizing the Parry Sound North Star collection. Prices are $40 per year, $20 for those with an Annual Pass to the Museum or $6 for individual meetings.
