The West Parry Sound District Museum is happy to announce that we are open! We will resume our regular operating hours of Wednesday to Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm.

Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our visitors, volunteer and staff, so please read below to find out all you need to know before you visit.


Facility Maintenance

Museum staff will ensure the cleanliness of the facility on a daily basis. Sanitization of high-touch zones will be carried out every morning, and periodically throughout the day. High-touch zones include doorknobs, railings, seating, washrooms, etc. Washrooms will be available to Museum patrons ONLY, and will not be open to the general public.


Visiting the Museum

For the month of May, the Museum's admission is a recommended donation of $2.00. Fee's apply when booking an escape room experience.

 

Exhibitions currently on display:

E. Roy Smith Permanent Gallery - Explore the history of the West Parry Sound District in our newly renovated permanent gallery, including a model train of the Ottawa, Arnprior & Parry Sound Railway!

 

Admission Fees

Admission to the Museum is currently by donation.

 


Building Capacity

Please note that certain areas remain off-limits to visitors/renters, including all office areas, kitchen and the lower gallery. The Museum reserves the right to amend capacity limits based on user experience as well as advice from the Government of Ontario, Public Health Ontario and the North Bay Parry Sound Public Health Unit.


Signage

Additional signage will be available throughout the Museum indicating directional routes and information on hand-washing and other sanitation standards. Signage will be updated by staff as needed.


What To Expect During Your Visit

Your visit may be a little bit different this time around, but it is only to help keep everyone safe! Please take a minute to review some of the new policies we have in place.

  • Upon entering, you will be asked to remove any outside gloves, as they are not permitted within the Museum.
  • Sanitizing station in front lobby and gift shop.
  • Contactless payment methods are encouraged.
  • Masks are optional.
  • Our gift shop is open.
  • Physical distancing within Museum gift shop and galleries.

What We Are Doing For You

  • Physical distancing within Museum gift shop and galleries.
  • Sanitization of high-touch zones every morning, and throughout the day (door knobs, railing, seating, washrooms, etc.).
  • Sanitizing stations available on upper level of Museum.
  • The Museum gift shop is open.
  • Plexiglas barrier in gift shop.
  • Masks are optional.
  • Contactless payments encouraged.
  • Additional signage will be throughout the Museum indicating directional routes, capacity limits and information on hand-washing and other sanitation standards.
  • Museum washrooms are closed to the general public and will only be available to Museum patrons.
  • No interactive elements within exhibition spaces.

Rentals
