In accordance with the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, we will be temporarily closing the West Parry Sound District Museum to the public, effective January 5th, 2022. The health and safety of our community remains our top priority. We will continue to follow the recommendations of public health officials and look forward to opening our doors when it is safe to do so.

Facility Maintenance

Museum staff will ensure the cleanliness of the facility on a daily basis. Sanitization of high-touch zones will be carried out every morning, and periodically throughout the day. High-touch zones include doorknobs, railings, seating, washrooms, etc. Washrooms will be available to Museum patrons ONLY, and will not be open to the general public.

Visiting the Museum

The Museum will allow up to 10 people in the building at one time. No appointment is needed.  If you have any questions, please contact info@museumontowerhill.com or call (705)-746-5365.

No exhibitions are currently on display at this time. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.


Admission Fees

Admission to the Museum is currently by donation.


*Please note that the Museum's E. Roy Smith Gallery is temporarily CLOSED due to ongoing renovations. 


Building Capacity

Please note that we are only permitting up to 10 people in the Museum at one time. Certain areas remain off-limits to visitors/renters, including all office areas, kitchen and the lower gallery. The Museum reserves the right to amend capacity limits based on user experience as well as advice from the Government of Ontario, Public Health Ontario and the North Bay Parry Sound Public Health Unit.


Additional signage will be available throughout the Museum indicating directional routes, capacity limits and information on hand-washing and other sanitation standards. Signage will be updated by staff as needed.


Visitor seating is available in the exhibition spaces and limited to one wooden bench in each of the galleries.

What To Expect During Your Visit

Your visit may be a little bit different this time around, but it is only to help keep everyone safe! Please take a minute to review some of the new policies we have in place.

  • Upon entering, you will be asked to remove any outside gloves, as they are not permitted within the Museum.
  • A maximum of 10 people in the Museum at one time. 
  • Sanitizing station in front lobby and gift shop.
  • Contactless payment methods are encouraged.
  • Masks are manditory.
  • Our gift shop is open.
  • Physical distancing within Museum gift shop and galleries.

What We Are Doing For You

  • Limiting the number of visitor in the Museum at one time to allow for physical distancing.
  • A maximum of 10 individuals in the building at one time
  • Sanitization of high-touch zones every morning, and throughout the day (door knobs, railing, seating, washrooms, etc.).
  • Sanitizing stations available on upper level of Museum.
  • The Museum gift shop is open.
  • Plexiglas barrier in gift shop.
  • Masks are manditory.
  • Contactless payments encouraged.
  • Additional signage will be throughout the Museum indicating directional routes, capacity limits and information on hand-washing and other sanitation standards.
  • Museum washrooms are closed to the general public and will only be available to Museum patrons.
  • No interactive elements within exhibition spaces.


**Facility rentals are not premitted at this time.
