Welcome Back!

The Museum on Tower Hill has reopened to the public in a limited capacity. The Museum will be taking bookings for visits by appointment only. Drop-in appointments are welcome from Wednesday to Saturday 11 am to 4 pm, although they cannot be guaranteed. We encourage calling ahead to book your appointment to ensure your visit.  For more information on bookings and fees see "Booking by Appointment" below. Please note that staff reserve the right to close the Museum an hour prior to the listed closing time if there are no bookings.

The Museum gift shop will remain open with restrictions on touching items.

Please note that the Museum's E. Roy Smith permanent gallery is currently CLOSED due to ongoing renovations. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.


Facility Maintenance

Museum staff will ensure the cleanliness of the facility on a daily basis. Sanitization of high-touch zones will be carried out every morning, and after each visiting group. High-touch zones include doorknobs, railings, seating, washrooms, etc. Washrooms will only be available to Museum patrons, and will not be open to the general public.


Booking By Appointment

The Museum is open by appointment. Appointments must be booked and confirmed prior to coming to the Museum, as we cannot guarantee appointments to drop-ins. Drop-In Appointments

The Museum welcomes drop-in appointments between Wednesday to Saturday 11 am to 4 pm, although we cannot guarantee an availability. We encourage calling ahead to book your appointment in order to ensure your visit. Please note that staff reserve the right to close the facility an hour prior to the listed closing time if no appointments have been booked. The maximum group booking is 10 people.

*Please note that the Museum's E. Roy Smith permanent gallery is temporarily CLOSED due to ongoing renovations. Exhibitions currently on display include Logging: A History of Logging in the West Parry Sound District and our new exhibition Our Community: A History of the West Parry Sound District.

Admission Fees

  • Family Groups or ‘social circles’ of 1-10 people - $20.00 flat rate during operating hours.
  • Family Groups or ‘social circles’ of 1-10 people - $30.00 flat rate outside regular operating hours (after 4 pm).

Building Capacity

Please note that we are only permitting groups/rentals of 10 people in the Museum at one time. Certain areas remain off-limits to visitors/renters, including all office areas, kitchen and the gift shop. The Museum reserves the right to amend capacity limits based on user experience as well as advice from the Government of Ontario, Public Health Ontario and the North Bay Parry Sound Public Health Unit.


Signage

Additional signage will be available throughout the Museum indicating directional routes, capacity limits and information on hand-washing and other sanitation standards. Signage will be updated by staff as needed.


Seating

Visitor seating is available in the exhibition spaces and limited to one wooden bench in each of the galleries.


What To Expect During Your Visit

Your visit may be a little bit different this time around, but it is only to help keep everyone safe! Once you have booked your timeslot with us, please take a minute to review some of the new policies we have in place.

*Please note that due to physical distancing protocols, the Museum’s elevator will be off limits to the general public. This means that the lower gallery can only be accessed by our stairwell.

  • The Museum’s front door will remained locked. Staff will greet visitors at the door 5 minutes prior to their timeslot.
  • Upon entering, you will be asked to remove any outside gloves, as they are not permitted within the Museum.
  • Sanitizing station in front lobby as well as on the lower level.
  • Contactless payment methods are encouraged.
  • Masks are manditory.
  • Our gift shop is open, although patrons will be asked to look and not touch. If you would like to make a purchase, please tell front desk staff and they will get the item.
  • Physical distancing within Museum gift shop and galleries.

What We Are Doing For You

  • Limiting the number of visitor in the Museum at one time to allow for social distancing.
  • Family groups or ‘social circles’ only (a maximum of 10 individuals per group).
  • Sanitization of high-touch zones every morning, and after each visit (door knobs, railing, seating, washrooms, etc.).
  • Sanitizing stations available on upper and lower level of Museum.
  • The Museum gift shop will be open, although visitors will be asked to tell staff what they would like to purchase to limit cross contamination.
  • Plexiglas barrier in gift shop.
  • Masks are manditory.
  • Cashless payments encouraged.
  • Additional signage will be throughout the Museum indicating directional routes, capacity limits and information on hand-washing and other sanitation standards.
  • The Museum’s front door will remained locked. Staff will greet visitors at the door 5 minutes prior to the selected timeslot.
  • Museum washrooms are closed to the general public and will only be available to Museum patrons.
  • No interactive elements within exhibition spaces.

Rentals

Please note that the Museum will continue offering facility rentals to groups of up to 10 people ONLY. During your facility rental, the Museum will be closed to outside visitors and the Museum’s front door will remained locked.

Fees

  • $35.00/per hour during regular operating hours (Monday to Sunday, 9 am to 4 pm).
  • $40.00/per hour outside of operating hours (Monday to Sunday, after 4 pm).
