About
Our journey began in November 1984 when the Museum was incorporated, but it would be almost a decade of dedication before our physical location at 17 George St was established on July 3rd, 1993. Since the start, we've been dedicated to preserving the vibrant history of the West Parry Sound District, and we invite you to join us today as we celebrate the power of museums to inspire, educate, and connect communities worldwide.
The West Parry Sound District Museum, commonly known now as the Museum on Tower Hill, began as a group of dedicated citizens who wanted to ensure the rich history of the district be preserved and interpreted for generations to come.
Today, the Museum continues its mission to collect, preserve, and share the West Parry Sound District's history with visitors and future generations.
The Museum has three galleries for visitors to explore.

The E. Roy Smith Gallery houses the permanent exhibit that takes visitors back in time and allows them to explore some of the transformative events and people that helped shape our district. From learning about Georgian Bay and our past shipping history to exploring the Ottawa, Arnprior & Parry Sound Railway like never before, our permanent gallery is sure to have something for everyone!
Located in the core of the Georgian Bay Biosphere, the West Parry Sound District Museum is situated within the Tower Hill Heritage Garden and mere steps away from Parry Sound's Lookout tower, which gives a 360-degree view of the town and Parry Sound's harbour. There's no better family destination to explore in the area than Tower Hill.
